Speed up your structural analysis workflow with the new IKE Office Pro and SPIDAcalc integration

As Product Manager for IKE Office Pro, I work with our software developers to build new features and plan our product roadmap using feedback from clients and users.

IKE Office Pro is known as the go-to tool for accurately measuring the most important data points on a pole, but that data is even more powerful when it can plug into connected systems and workflows. Data interoperability and integrations are key to making your workflows and processes more efficient, and they ultimately help you gain actionable insights from your overhead infrastructure.

Integrations between IKE Office Pro and pole loading analysis (PLA) applications are a prime example of this and one that our team has been focused on continuing to develop and improve. We are proud to have recently completed additional integration work between IKE Office Pro and a commonly used PLA tool, SPIDAcalc.

Key enhancements include:

• Span Connectivity: Linked spans can now be exported to SPIDAcalc for pole loading analysis, reducing the need for pole-by-pole analysis.

• Photo Export Options: You can now choose to export SPIDA files with or without photos. The photo export includes three tag photos and one IKE pole photo. You can choose which photos get exported by using the new Hide Photo tool. This is another example of how IKE Office Pro enables your data to flow seamlessly to downstream systems and processes, in addition to our comprehensive export formats (KML, Excel, JSON) and our REST API which integrates into numerous design, asset management and GIS applications.

• Anchor Export Improvements: The anchor bearing imported into SPIDAcalc will now be the bearing you collected in the field rather than a bearing associated with a wire endpoint.
• Increased Validation: We’ve added more validation checks to ensure that your IKE Office Pro data successfully imports into SPIDAcalc before you leave IKE Office.

We also recently completed integrating IKE Office Pro with the latest version of IKE Poleforeman, IKE’s industry-leading PLA software, used by eight of the 10 largest investor-owned utilities in North America. You’ll notice several improvements, including that the IKE Office Pro workflow, span connectivity, and validation checks are now synced with IKE Poleforeman.

These integrations help our clients break down data and communication silos, drive productivity, and track progress to reach goals.

The development and testing work for both integration projects were successful thanks to input from key customers and partners. We have more features and integrations on the horizon driven by customer feedback so please stay tuned.
