What is Pole Loading Analysis? For Utility Engineers, Standards, Design, Joint-Use and Operations Teams.

Every overhead pole on your distribution network is subject to forces – wind, ice, wire tension, equipment weight, and the cumulative load of every attachment added over decades. Pole loading analysis (PLA) is how you determine whether a pole can safely carry what’s being asked of it, and whether it meets the structural requirements set by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
