IKE Field 1.0.19 – August 14, 2016
New
- Camera brightness control
- A new camera brightness control is added to the bottom left side of the capture screen. Users can use the slider or tap on the buttons to change brightness.
IKE Field 1.0.18 – August 8, 2016
Enhancements
- Update compass stability indicator to be less frequent.
- When IKE device moves, such as making a point to point measurement, the compass requires a little bit of time stabilizing and the user will get a “Compass Stabilizing” message on the screen. Frequent messages like this could be distracting to the user. The trigger of such message has been delayed for 3 seconds, by which time most likely the compass has already stabilized, resulting in much less frequent message on the screen.
- Improved camera exposure level.
- When taking captures, after having tapped to expose a section of an image, there were instances of the exposure level changing after clicking the take photo button, resulting in the screen flicking to a different exposure post-capture.
- This enhancement locks the auto exposure (AE-locked as shown below).
IKE Field 1.0.16 – July 31, 2016
Bug Fixes
- If a user password has been changed on IKE Office, the user will be prompted to re-login on IKE Field.
IKE Field 1.0.15 – July 22, 2016
Bug Fixes
- For better usability, the “Done” button on a point to point measurement screen has been move the bottom right corner.
- Compass initialization requires a GPS fix. Changed the initialization screen timeout to 30 seconds in the compass calibration utility, which is approximately the code start time of the GPS. This help avoid timeout errors.
Enhancements
- Fixed data issue related to screen lock/unlock: if you were in a capture screen, then pushed the power button to lock the screen, the data captured might not be save after you pushed the power button again to unlock the screen. This has been fixed.
IKE Field 1.0.14 – July 17, 2016
Enhancements
- New Compass Calibration user interface and guided tutorial.
- This is a much easier calibration process. It includes 3 spins facing north, then the same 3 spins facing east.
- To access the Compass Calibration user interface, on IKE Field home screen, tap on the three dot button on the upper right corner, go to Settings, the Calibration.
- Enhanced use of Gyroscopic sensors to improve Point to Point and Span Height measurement accuracy.
- Compass is started when a user enters into a new job or existing job on IKE Field. A “Compass Stabilizing” message is added to the screen to let the user know that the compass is getting ready for data capture.
IKE Field 1.0.13 – July 10, 2016
Bug Fixes

- To access the Compass Calibration user interface, on IKE Field home screen, tap on the three dot button on the upper right corner, go to Settings, the Calibration.
IKE Field 1.0.11 – June 27, 2016
Enhancements
- New compass calibration
- With this new IKE 4 compass calibration, a user can expect to have a reliable compass for IKE 4 measurements in the field. We recommend a user to perform such calibration:
- Once a week, or
- After taking the device on an airplane flight
- Before performing the compass calibration, watch the following video and practice the tumble as instructed:
- During the compass calibration, the user must:
- Keep the device screen on the same “plane” during the tumbling process
- Be slow and smooth when performing the tumble.
- Added a manual entry option for height fields.
- For Height fields, there will be two options for a field technician to capture height in the field:
- Note, heights can be entered as whole feet, and decimal inches – e.g. 23 ft, 5.5 in. Decimal feet (e.g. 12.5 ft) are not supported at this stage. The Height value, either from the Height Tool or the Manual Entry, will be carried over to SPIDACalc output.
IKE Field 1.0.10 – June 19, 2016
Bug Fixes
- Resolved issue in which a message is intermittently displayed stating “This device does not have a boot loader” when starting the IKE Field Application.
- Resolved intermittent occurrence of distances showing a number of feet, and 12″ which should round to the next foot (e.g. 5’12” should read 6’0″).
IKE Field 1.0.9 – June 13, 2016
Enhancements
- Add laser signal indicator to improve data capture accuracy. (See details below.)
Improvements:
- Showing a laser signal quality indicator to the user on capture screens.
- Managing the laser service so that the typical time to first available laser measurement is reduced.
- Removing the word ‘Distance’ from beneath the laser measurement.
- Preventing captures when the laser signal quality indicator is not good (improving accuracy).
- Showing laser firmware version and serial number in the IKE Field application.
- Changing the laser firmware update icon in the status bar to differentiate it from the laser service.
Observations:
- Laser Signal Quality indicators do not improve wire detection when the wire is against a wall.
- Laser Signal Quality indicators do make it easier to hit a wire against the sky by making it easier to determine when the wire is not being hit.
Laser Signal Quality
- The laser firmware embeds a signal quality indication with measurement messages. The signal quality can be used to improve effectiveness in capturing pole data.
User facing changes
- On capture screens a signal quality indicator is shown to the user whenever the laser return signal is outside acceptable measurement ranges, i.e., the signal is too weak or strong. When the signal quality is acceptable the range is displayed. We have removed the word ‘Distance’ from below the range value.
- When hitting highly reflective targets we now show that the signal is too strong. To get a return signal that can be measured try hitting a different, less reflective part of the pole or change increase the angle of incidence to the pole.
- Whenever the IKE 4 is sky-ranging, or the moving the range value is replaced with ‘signal unstable’
Other User facing changes
- Application -> Version displays range finder firmware version and serial number.Caveat: The laser has to have been turned on before this field is populated, i.e., you have to have gone on to a capture screen before going to this screen. If you don’t the fields will be “unknown” Once any measurement screen has been visited, the rangefinder versions are saved in App data and refreshed on each laser start.
- Firmware update service icon in status bar has changed to differentiate it from the laser service. Firmware update icon is now the ‘upload’ icon as shown here.
IKE Field 1.0.8 – June 2, 2016
Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue where camera didn’t return the correct parameters when camera is started is some cases.
Enhancements
- Do not power up laser when capturing a regular photo (without additional sensors). This saves battery power.
- Improved communications with sensors when starting and stopping Compass Calibration process.
- Intermittent communication issues were observed when moving in and out of the Compass Calibration Screen. This sometimes caused the IMU to be in an unexpected state, which could lead to difficulty when calibrating the device. This has been resolved.
IKE Field 1.0.7 – May 30, 2016
Bug Fixes
- After a failed compass calibration, the user can now retry the calibrations as intended and not be taken to an error screen.
Enhancements
- Improvements on laser firmware update process:
- Users will be presented with a screen that shows that a firmware update is in progress.
- If the screen is locked, the laser firmware update will continue in the background, which will take about 5 minutes to complete.
- Compass calibration is now based on factory calibration rather than the last user calibration.
- This should improve the consistency and success of compass calibrations. Users will find it easier to calibrate the device over time than they would without this improvement.
IKE Field 1.0.6 – May 19, 2016
Bug Fixes
- Resume app when coming back from background:
- The app no longer restarts rather than resuming when the application is pushed to the background and the user clicks on the IKE Field icon to re-launch.
- This means the user doesn’t loose data.
- Fixed issue related to selecting a value in the list at the same time as tapping done/cancel.
Enhancement
- Improved how adjusting exposure works when zoomed.
- Exposure now adjust appropriately when the camera screen is tapped, even when the camera is zoomed in.
- Improved laser alignment
- Improved alignment of cross hair between preview and captured images.
- Users will now notice very little difference between the preview image crosshair location (targeting at something) and the crosshair location on the image they capture (e.g. in the review screen or on the web).
IKE Field 1.0.5 – May 16, 2016
Bug Fixes
- Improved the usability of Span Height by enhancing the guide arrows.
- The guide arrows in the Span Height tool are now more responsive and more accurate, guiding the user to directly below the wire.
IKE Field 1.0.4 – May 6, 2016
Bug Fixes
- Fixed several potential application issues.
- Nested list
- Selecting multiple values at once (i.e. finger touches two options at once).
- ▪Rapid selection of values (i.e. double tapping. or selecting several options very quickly).
- Camera Preview failing to start after turning device back on, followed by potential app stop if capture attempted anyway.
- App stopped when data is corrupted (caused by nested list issue).
- Fixed Compass readings dropping out due to compass crashing.
- Compass serial port can have duplicate copies running at the same time.
Enhancements
- Added Compass User Calibration to improve compass accuracy in diverse magnetic environments.
- Now available under Menu→Settings→Compass Calibration.
- PLEASE NOTE: This feature supersedes the need to use the IKE Field Production App for HSI Calibration. Please uninstall the IKE Field Production app from all units when upgrading to this release.
- Added additional logging through Fabric (Crashlytics) to improve diagnosis of any future issues.
Known issues
- Nested list issue if
- User taps Cancel button and selects a value simultaneously (i.e. two finger tap).
- User taps Back button and selects a value simultaneously (i.e. two finger tap).
- PLEASE NOTE: We recommend that the customer does not tap on both a button and a value in a list.
- Intermittent fault retrying Compass user calibration
- If the calibration process is unsuccessful and the user taps the ‘Try Again’ button, the application intermittently returns to the ‘Error’ screen instead of re-initializing the calibration process.
- The work around is to close and restart the application
